The project
Designed for how they live.
Like many new-build gardens, this one at Broadnook Village in Rothley was plain and overlooked, with the backs of the neighbouring houses in full view.
Rather than a full rebuild, we kept it simple: one long raised timber planter across the back of the garden, a modern horizontal slatted fence behind it, and mature trees planted along its length to add height straight away and soften the view of the houses behind.
The plants were chosen by Frances Hunt, a garden designer we often work with: lavender, soft ornamental grasses and shrubs picked to look good with very little upkeep. Raising the bed also means everything grows in fresh soil rather than the compacted ground new-build plots often have.
Completed in October 2026, the whole job took our team three days and came in at around £8,000, including all the plants and trees.
